Project description:

Extreme athletes regularly face high-risk, acute stress situations, in which focused and calm action can make the difference between life or death. Efficient coping strategies are useful not only in the practice of an extreme sport, but also in everyday stress situations. This study focuses on the specific transferability of coping strategies using two VR-induced stress scenarios.

What coping strategies do extreme athletes use? Are there differences between the strategies used by extreme athletes and non-extreme athletes? Is the context situation relevant? Do the coping strategies work?
